Job Description : Job Purpose
To promote the pursuit of excellence and of continuous improvement of Skanska Civil Engineerings safety performance To promote the application and implementation of the Skanska Civil Engineering Safety Management System As directed, to mentor and to supervise the activities of Skanska Civil Engineering Safety Advisers. Be familiar with, and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of the Health and Safety and Environmental Policies Implement the relevant requirements of the SMS and EMS

Principle Duties & Accountabilities
As directed, promote continuous improvement of safety performance on specific projects by fulfilling the duties of a Safety Adviser Be familiar with and promote current health and safety legislation including best practices relevant to Skanska Civil Engineering Participate in the development, regular review and update of the Safety Management System Monitor and report the implementation and application of the SMS requirements on the relevant Skanska Civil Engineering projects Provide advice, support and assistance to all project personnel to enable them to manage their health and safety responsibilities Supervise and mentor the development of Safety Advisers Assist in the development and delivery of suitable health and safety training for all project staff Represent and promote the Safety Department in meetings, workshops, management reviews and forums. As directed, assist in the supervision of the relevant members of the safety team Participate in reviewing the requirements of the SMS twice per annum Conduct at least 6 subcontractor safety audits per annum Attend all safety departmental safety meetings

Key Working Relationships
Internal - Group EHS Manager (reporting UKCE performance, technical discussions), Project and Site Managers, Counterparts in other Skanska businesses (technical discussions, sharing best practice), Potentially all UKCE and project personnel including supply chain (technical discussions) External - Counterparts in other major UK Clients/Contractors (technical), Client representatives (presentations, technical discussions)

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications Required
Corporate Member of IOSH Construction Industry Experience and in particular CDM 2007, Relevant CSCS Card Training to NEBOSH Diploma standard on: - Health and Safety Law, Risk Management, Occupational Health, Behavioural aspects, Environmental Management Certificate (e.g. NVQ), Statistical Analysis
