Role & Responsibilities      
Review and monitor asset management outputs, including efficiency reviews, delivery plans and progress with achieving best practice. Provide specialist technical advice on asset management matters, including supporting stations, track and issues. Forward planning work to assist in preparing for the next periodic review. Knowledge of systems such as Ellipse, Maximo, or SAP to support our reviews of asset information systems.
  • Experience of developing and implementing Asset & Configuration Management processes and procedures, monitoring effectiveness and driving process improvement
  • In depth experience of all aspects of IT services delivery
  • Experience of delivery in a complex multi-vendor supply chain with a mix of internally and externally sourced service provision
  • Management experience of working in a major business service organisation in the public sector;
  • Experience of managing teams, both directly and virtually, in a matrix structure environment;
  • Experience with Project Management in an Agile environment would be advantageous
  • A wide understanding of operational requirements e.g. business continuity, seasonal periods and scheduling 
  • ITIL V3 Intermediate
Skills and Experience
  • The post holder should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience of IT service management, specifically with Asset & Configuration Management.

Role & Responsibilities      
  • Provide current and relevant advice on the latest developments in public
    sector procurement in relation to your category/s.
  • Prepare and deliver commercial guidance and advice for relevant
    audiences in your category/s. Use sound presentation and communication
    skills, working with the business and using strong and plain commercial
    writing and persuasive skills.
  • Execute management responsibilities effectively.
    Support a strong commercial direction and a persuasive future vision
    based on the new DVSA Commercial Strategy.
  • Actively represent DVSA within the DfT Group Operating Model (GOM)
    and vice-versa in respect of commercial matters in relation to your
  • Utilise a MI regime, drive improvements in the quality of MI and its use
    in informing commercial strategy decisions and introducing improvements
    in your category/s
  • For requirements that are common goods and services delivered
    through Crown Commercial Services, work with the DfT Category Lead in
    influencing the CCS approach to ensure best GOM advantage.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply
    (MCIPS), or equivalent, or working towards 
  • Experience of the commercial cycle including pre-competitive supplier engagement, supplier selection, evaluation, contract award and ongoing contract management.
  • Experience of using Crown Commercial Frameworks and Digital Marketplace
  • Experience of operating in a Category Management environment, or a knowledge of the principles of a Category Management approach
