Quantity Surveyor - Berkshire - Top UK residential developer  
The client:  
I have been instructed by a well-known, award winning national developer based in Berkshire who are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their team.    
They have a number of sites across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire and are one of the UK's most respected house builders.    
The role:  
Your role will be to assist with the completion of a major flagship project, based on the outskirts of Reading. There are also a number of sites coming up in the next couple of months around Reading and Basingstoke, though this will be office based.  
This business has a very clear track record of promoting from within, and there will be an opportunity to progress to Senior Surveyor  
Salary:  
The client is offering up to £50k + an excellent package for the right candidate.    
Skills/experience required:  
The candidate will be expected to have previous house building experience, ideally from a national developer working on high-volume projects.

Job Title: Site Manager

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + package

I am working with a main contractor in the Berkshire area who are looking for an experienced Site Manager to join an existing team of passionate and dedicated managers. Experience of running your own schemes up to £7-8million and experience of being part of a team on bigger schemes is attractive to this region and is the type of experience they look for within their Site Managers.      
       
Roles and responsibilities:
  • Develop site specific plans with Senior Management and continually review, Implement, monitor and enforce procedures.
  • Review method statements and risk assessments to ensure compliance with company's procedures, arrange and chair pre-start meetings with sub - contractors and attend hand - over meeting with pre-construction team.
  • Manage designated projects to meet company objectives post-contract with an input into pre-contract requirements emphasising customer care and business excellence.
  • Control and monitor day works for subcontractors
  • Demonstrate a good level of financial/technical knowledge in meeting the business and customer objectives.
  • Be aware of the production, on-going analysis & mitigation of project risks.
  • Assist with the production of short term programmes.
 
 Personal specification:
  • Holds the relevant qualifications (i.e. management qualification at NVQ level 3 or equivalent)
  • Previous industry experience
  • Proven experience in the management and development of employees and teams
  • Flexible with working hours and have the ability to travel within the local area on a regional and national basis when required
  • Ability to take ownership and solve problems and implement actions
  • Commitment to customer care and customer focus
  • Awareness of operative skill areas other than primary trade

Job Title:  Project Quantity Surveyor      
Location: West London  
Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 + benefits  (dependent on experience)  
Start date: ASAP         
     
A highly respected, family owned construction company are currently looking for a Project Quantity Surveyor to join the team. The role is site based in West London, but there may be times when you are based in the regional office at Theale. The ideal person will have education and commercial office experience.    
     
Roles and responsibilities:
  • Pre-start reviewing design, contract and cost plan allowances with team
  • Attending and contributing to design team and client project meetings
  • Take off BQ's from drawings and specifications (must be competent to do this for all packages from groundworks through to finishes)
  • Preparing and sending out tender packages, negotiating orders with trades and putting together subcontract orders
  • Carrying out site measures and valuations again subcontractor applications including issuing payment and withholding notices
  • Preparing client applications and variation accounts
  • Preparing and maintaining the procurement schedule and warranty tracker.
  • Managing and supporting any junior staff if applicable to site
  • Preparing monthly CVR report to run through and agree with the visiting Commercial Manager
 
Personal specification:
  • Someone who has recently had sole project responsibility
  • £17m project - larger scale project experience is needed
  • Commercial office experience
  • Refurbishment and demolition experience
