  •  This is a technical management post within the SKYNET 6 Service Delivery Wrap Project. The purpose of the post is to provide project management and leadership for the Options Analysis work-package throughout Assessment Phase Part 1.The workstream lead will be responsible for the delivery of analysis outcomes in accordance with the work-stream EPM schedule, and sub plans, monitoring, tracking and reporting performance and variance to the work-stream lead.The work-package lead should have sufficient technical and management experience to be active in the Options analysis process and be open to assisting in wider project activities on an ad-hoc basis. The workstream encompasses: Options Analysis (OA) modelling and assessment with a range of stakeholders, including leading and delivering a series of Options Analysis Working Groups (OAWGs), Option Review Boards (ORBs) and facilitation of Investment Appraisal (IA) activities.Overall analysis will require a number of process iterations to reduce the range of possible to options, to a single preferred option endorsed by an ORB. Options analysis will deliver: 1. A preferred option in full technical detail, 2. A preferred route to market and acquisition approach, and The work-package leader will be responsible for: The allocation, balancing and re-distribution of work load between team members, performing any line management activities as required (management of absence) and referring any further resourcing issues to the workstream lead. The planning and delivery of a series of OAWG's focussed on assessing outputs for the various Service Delivery Wrap workstream studies. Contributing to the development of the overall analysis process and leading the engagements with the Project Board, Scrutiny and Defence Economics to seek endorsement/approval of these processes. Ensuring the holistic integration of OA, IA and other processes in the overall analysis model. Providing a focus for the management of Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies and Opportunities (RAIDO) throughout these processes. Develop and maintaining a fully auditable evidence pack that supports the preferred option Delivering an LFE work-package that captures both internal/external lessons and evidences where these lessons have been implemented across the SKYNET 6 Project. ESSENTIAL: (The previous experience should have a degree of currency e.g. within the last 3-5 years)  Previous experience of Options Analysis - Including processes/methodologies that analyse an option set to establish a preferred option, supported by auditable evidence  Previous experience Stakeholder Communications/Workshop facilitation - The ability to communicate clearly with a range of key stakeholder, including very senior stakeholders. Proven experience in facilitating decision making workshops o Previous experience of Team management - The ability to manage a mixed team of crown servants, internal contractor support, and external contractor support o Previous experience of investment appraisals - The ability to develop products in support of investment decisions DESIRABLE: Sound technical knowledge of Service Delivery provision o Previous experience of MOD approvals process

  •  The Human and Social Sciences Group, in Dstl, delivers, and facilitates the delivery of, future-focused human and social science research and consultancy to MOD and other government departments. Our work informs policy and maximises the performance of whole systems for Defence and Security. The group have a vacancy for a Contractor to support the Human Systems Integration and Humans in Cyber Systems capabiltiies. We require a Human Factors (HF) Practitioner, with knowledge of Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Human Computer Interaction (HCI), to lead and advise on a number of work packages in the Cyber area, and across domains if subsequently required. The contractor will provide Human Factors expertise to ensure human-related requirements and equipment design are optimised for the end user and to ensure effective exploitation of the capability. Design and assess Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Human Computer Interaction (HCI) aspects of military systems, to aid understanding of user task performance and systems safety. Design, perform and analyse HF assessments to assess military systems. Apply human-related standards (JSP912), information and knowledge in human-related aspects of military system development in order to assess a system. Write and analyse human-related requirements (e.g. capture, definition, test and assurance) of military systems. Analyse human-related considerations (i.e. constraints, risks, issues and concerns) of military systems in order to quantify the severity of risk. Apply the processes for conducting safe and ethical assessments of military systems. Develop, run and evaluate trials activities which may require travel (including overseas). Work with and advise other team members, Engineers, Scientists and the end user. Brief military personnel and project teams when required. The Contractor will be required to have experience of: Conducting Human Factors assessments to assess military systems. Applying human-related standards in order to assess a system. Applying the MOD HFI process. Writing human-related requirements of military systems and analysing human-related considerations. Designing and reviewing HMI and HCI designs. Applying HF trials design. Practical domain experience, such as Land or Maritime. The Contractor will be required to have the following skills: Planning / organising - Proven ability to plan, develop and manage a range of high quality work, ensuring plans compliment broader customer requirements. Ability to organise and assess own contributions. Problem solving - Able to identify broad trends to assess deep-rooted and complex issues. Able to apply originality in modifying existing approaches to solve problems. Management and teamwork - effective team working skills, understanding the strengths and weaknesses of others to help teamwork development. Ability to foster and develop good relationships with others. Communicating and influencing - Able to provide expert guidance (written and verbal) to colleagues in own team, other work areas, stakeholders and customers when required. Able to persuade and influence at all levels in order to foster and maintain relationships, resolving tensions/ difficulties as they arise. The successful candidate should be able to travel to meetings around the UK and overseas if required. Minimum of a BSc. or equivalent in a relevant Human Factors (e.g. Ergonomics) / Human Science subject. OR Minimum of a BEng/BSc. in Systems/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (or other engineering subject), Industrial Design Engineering/Product Design, or natural science subject (e.g. Physics) AND experience of applying HF in a research, or consultancy context.

These fantastic new projects are based in Malmesbury, Thatcham and Salisbury Plain and the company operate across to Bath and Reading, up to Cheltenham/Gloucester and down to Salisbury. The individual will work on the majority of groundworks within the business, so has to have experience in this. Projects will range from £1m - £15m, including education, healthcare, and aspire work.

  • Preparation of contracts, including details regarding quantities of required  materials
  • On-going cost analysis of maintenance and repair work
