My client is a dynamic integrated highways services company, equally owned by two leading service providers. They offer a comprehensive, unique and innovative range of contracting, asset management and consultancy skills to clients such as the Highways Agency and Local Authorities.
They are currently seeking to appoint a 'Tunnel Operations Manager' to oversee ongoing maintenance works in one of several road tunnels located in South East London. Your main purpose will be to oversee the day to day tunnel operations and to effectively manage 5 direct reportees and up to 20 operatives.
Your key accountabilities will be:
- Manage Tunnels Maintenance in accordance with Annex. H.
- Liaise with Client
- Manage H&S at work
- Manage Maintenance Staff and workforce
- Produce Maintenance Program
- Manage Maintenance Budget, both LS and RM's
- Manage the Supply chain
- Deputise for Tunnels Manager
- Attend Maintenance meetings
- Carry out inspections/reports/Audits
- Manage Environmental issues
- Manage the Tunnels Fleet and Plant
- Manage Winter Maintenance in an additional Tunnel
- Manage Quality assurance in the tunnels, in accordance with Company procedures
- Manage SPI's
- Manage all routine tunnel closures
- Liaison with stakeholders, Police, Client, local boroughs and emergency services
- Manage client's expectations
To be successful in this role you will need to possess a good knowledge of highways maintenance in addition to having previous knowledge of managing and working in tunnel maintenance and the associated procedures and processes. You will need to be able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities allied with good organisational and communication skills. You will need to be commercially aware as you will be working to a schedule of rates, and will be able to effectively manage the supply chain. You will be required to actively promote Health & Safety in the workplace and set a good example to other employees and ensure good awareness and compliance from the workforce at all times.
