As a cloud architect you'll be working in a growing team that is responsible for designing and deploying cloud based architectures, ranging in size from small bespoke solutions to large enterprise scale deployments. You'll have numerous opportunities to grow and develop your career. The team is customer focused so you'll have the opportunity to work directly with end customers and design solutions to meet their requirements. While the role is predominantly focused on the design and implementation cloud solutions, there will also be an opportunity to deploy in-depth diagnostic skills in the resolution of complex third line support issues.
Day to day you'll be:
Working directly with our customers to understand their requirements and evaluating the applicability of cloud to the problem space.
Producing high and low level designs to deliver secure, reliable, efficient and cost optimised cloud based systems
Translating architectural designs into infrastructure-as-code defined solutions.
Working with support teams to enable management and monitoring of cloud based systems
Ensuring compliance of cloud systems with security policies and regulatory requirements
Acting as the SME on public cloud technologies, supporting organisational cloud adoption strategies and embedding best practice approaches
We'll also need to see these on your CV
A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of study
Understanding of, and adherence to the AWS Well Architected Framework
Understanding of the AWS Global Infrastructure and Availability Zones
Using AWS VPC, Subnets, Routing, Gateways, Peering and VPNs to design robust cloud network architectures
Using Network ACLs and Security Groups to limit network access to cloud resources
Using IAM roles and policies to limit access to resources, or grant temporary access to another AWS service or account
Using CloudWatch to design bespoke monitoring and alerting solutions for cloud deployments
Designing architectures based on container based platforms (e.g. ECS, EKS, Fargate, OpenShift)
Writing infrastructure-as-code (particularly CloudFormation) to define cloud systems.
Communicating complex cloud architectures to a range of technical and non-technical audiences
A desire to continually update, enhance and validate cloud skills, (ideally with a view to pursue cloud certification e.g. AWS Solution Architect)
Due to the nature of the work our team undertake, you'll need to be eligible to gain DV security clearance to be able to join us. This means you need to be a British national and not worked outside the UK in the last 10 years.
