Purpose of the job:   
Successful candidates will take a leading role in **'s embedded systems engineering programmes. The candidate must have excellent customer facing skills, as the programme will require close liaison with senior management, clients and certification authorities.      
       
Key tasks / Responsibilities:    
He/she will be **'s primary technical point of contact with the customer and will represent the company at all technical meetings.  He/she will also provide strong technical guidance to  members of the project team.  He will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure successful delivery of the project.      
       
Mandatory skills:    
Knowledge & experience of applicable standards in systems and software engineering in one or more of the following domains: aerospace, rail, automotive, space. System and software engineering experience. Requirements analysis, capture and validation. High Level (architecture) design, taking account of safety considerations. Previous experience of the certification process for embedded systems.      
   
Proficiency required:    
This programme of work will include elements of systems engineering, hardware and software, so the candidate must have a minimum of five years experience in a similar position and be able to demonstrate leadership in these fields.

Design of Test Equipment (in a build to specification scenario) including production of:

  • Subcomponent Diagrams
  • Bill of Materials
  • PCB Design

  • Metalwork Design
  • Designs will be produced using a range of tools, including Visio, SolidEdge, SolidWorks etc.  
  • Manufacture of the designed system to the appropriate quality standards.
In addition to the above:
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on all technical aspects of Test Equipment
  • Mentor and develop junior team members
  • Interface with customers on technical matters (may include visits to customer sites in the UK)
  • Assist the Project Manager in production of proposals (taking responsibility for the technical elements)
  • Maintain control of stock, and the workshop environment
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement
