Role & Responsibilities      
 
Design of Test Equipment (in a build to specification scenario) including production of:
  • General Assembly Diagram
  • Subcomponent Diagrams
  • Bill of Materials
  • PCB Design
  • Cable Design
  • Metalwork Design
  • Designs will be produced using a range of tools, including Visio, SolidEdge, SolidWorks etc.  
  • Manufacture of the designed system to the appropriate quality standards.
In addition to the above:
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on all technical aspects of Test Equipment
  • Mentor and develop junior team members
  • Interface with customers on technical matters (may include visits to customer sites in the UK)
  • Assist the Project Manager in production of proposals (taking responsibility for the technical elements)
  • Maintain control of stock, and the workshop environment
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement

    • Arbitrate and validate major System/Software design choices;

    • Client liaison.
    • Liaison with project Technical Lead Engineer(s) to ensure that adequate levels of staffing of the appropriate disciplines are allocated to the project to ensure specified timescale and quality standards are achieved.
    • Assistance in the preparation of quotations - particularly with the project management aspects.
    • Identification of potential contract variations at an early stage and, where agreed with the respective Manager, to issue variation notices to the customer.
    • Liaison with sub-contractors/vendors where appropriate.
    • Assessing and documenting project risks and monitoring the implementation of mitigation actions, where these have been defined.
    • Ensuring adherence to the Quality Management System. In particular there is a requirement to be fully conversant with the requirements of the Business Processes Manual and applicable Work Instructions.  
     
    Applicants should possess:
    • Great educational background, preferably in the fields of electronics engineering.
    • Proven work experience as a project administrator or manager in an IT project scenario.
    • Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in full lifecycle development of Automated Test Equipment primarily and in Electronics/Hardware secondarily.
