Job Title: Project Quantity Surveyor      
Location: Essex      
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 + package      
Start date: ASAP           
     
The client is looking to recruit a Project Quantity Surveyor, who will report to the Commercial Manager. The successful post-holder will be responsible for managing the commercial resources of the assigned project to maximise planned gross margin through the placement and control of contracts and subcontracts.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and develop the commercial team, ensuring workload is covered effectively and to ensure compliance and processes are being followed
Ensure that commercial and administrative systems, budgets and cost control procedures are utilised
Maximise cash flow through the control, measurement and valuation of work, and the invoicing of customers and payment of suppliers
Produce/ compile accurate forecasts/ budget information and produce accurate reports to client, maintaining and improving client relations as well as ensuring full entitlement under the contract is achieved
Ensure contract commercial deliverables and timescales are met
Assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
Responsible for ensuring works are valued, including any variation thereto, in accordance with the contract and analyses to determine the project True Value.
 
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Holder of a Full Driving License Degree
Holds the relevant qualifications (e.g. Degree in Quantity Surveying)
Experience within a similar role in the Construction Industry
Experience of identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
Excellent communicator (written and verbally with clients, colleagues and the public)
Good organiser and ability to prioritise

My client is looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor, who will report to the -Commercial Manager. The successful post-holders prime function is to increase value, reduce cost, drive profit and manage risk in a safe and ethical manner of the contract(s) they are working on.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Line management and integration of new team members where appropriate
Ensure cash flow is maximised including ensuring payments are received on time
Provide commercial input including financial and contractual performance forecasts to the management team. Help ensure that business targets and KPI's are exceeded
Preparation of monthly cost / value reports for area, together with review of results and consideration of trends with other contract team members

Physical measurement of works and agreements with client and subcontractors
Agreement of certification and payment of subcontractor accounts - monitoring of such accounts against forecasts

Managing sub-contractors including sending out enquiries, collating prices, comparing with tender, negotiation, order placement, agreement of account and payment
Carry out any other duties not identified above and as required by their manager
To assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement the client's policies for risk management.
 
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Holder of a Full UK Drivers Licence
Educated to Degree level, or equivalent experience
Experience within a similar role
Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel

Salary: £25,000 - £35,000 + package

The client is looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who will report to the Senior Quantity Surveyor. The successful post-holder will be responsible for assisting the General Manager/Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial expertise by working within robust procedures to support the director and operational managers.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the project team in all commercial matters
  • Liaise with the site teams and take the lead with contract administration, including record keeping.
  • Ensure timely submission of valuations
  • Ensure cash flow is maximised including ensuring payments are received on time
  • Ensure the accurate and timely evaluation and agreement of final quantities, revised and additional items, rates and compensation events
  • Identify additional entitlement under the contract including the monitoring of daily records
  • Delegate commercial activities to other members of the team as appropriate
  • Ensure that good records are kept in order that the full entitlement under the contract is achieved
  • Identify and realise opportunities to maximise cost/value management.
  • Assist with the preparation of accurate and timely monthly valuation reports.
  • Assist with the procurement and management of subcontract packages.
  • Assist with the internal valuations/VCR/End Life Forecasts.
  • Evaluate risks and review project risk register.
  • Assist with preparation of contractual claims.
  • Measure and assess the work undertaken and then submit detailed, accurate and timely applications
 
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Qualified or working towards a HND/HNC or similar in Quantity Surveying
  • Previous surveying or experience of working within a commercially focused environment
  • Must be flexible and able to work as part of a team and using own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to use a range of IT packages including Microsoft Office and bespoke packages
  • Literate and Numerate
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
  • Ability to work to deadlines
