Due to the nature of the work our team undertake, you'll need to be eligible to gain DV security clearance to be able to join us. This means you need to be a British national and not worked outside the UK in the last 10 years.
 
Security is as important as ever in a world where technology is evolving and cyber-attacks are on the rise. By joining as a Software Engineer, you will be developing and supporting secure applications to combat cyber-crime and threats to the UK's Critical National Infrastructure.
 
You will be responsible for:
- Working independently on technical projects/operational support tasks for managers or sponsors  
- Draft reports and make recommendations to managers and project sponsors
- Leading the development, implementation and ongoing management of policies and procedures
- Working with internal, external and third party suppliers
 
Everyday tasks:
- Design, develop, test, deploy and continually improve software to keep us ahead of the cyber-criminals
- Writing software
 
You will need to be a hands on practitioner in at least one of the technology areas we work in.
 
Your CV must include:
- A degree in a relevant field of study
- Experience of working to multiple deadlines
- Compiled and scripted languages; e.g. C, C++ (STL, multi-threaded/real-time), C#, Objective-C, Swift, Java/JEE, Python, JavaScript, Go, Bash, Powershell, Linux.

Platform & Infrastructure:
  • Linux Experience, ideally CentOs or Redhat

Security Clearance

We are looking for individuals that can leverage their extensive technical experience to provide 1st class support for our obligatory platforms. We need you to use industry best practice in all aspects of support and take ownership of all issues till resolution.
 
In particular the role holder is responsible for: -
  • Leading in the maintenance and in life support of obligatory systems to ensure compliance against relevant legislation
  • Use Incident, Problem & Change management best practises
  • Transitioning new service into support following VV&T and end user acceptance processes.
  • Technical writing and production of support documentation, deployment plans and procedures
  • Leading and leveraging the experience of the relevant professional communities to ensure knowledge sharing extends beyond the functional boundary of the role.
  • Lead and contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Building close working relationships with other teams including those off shore.
  • Liaising with internal, external and third-party suppliers.
  • Focus on the overall customer experience.
  • Provide out of hours on-call support
  • Occasional travel within the UK and abroad.
  • Proven track record in the operational and technical support environments.
  • Experience of application support including monitoring solutions
  • ITIL v3 foundation or above
  • Technical knowledge of the Linux & Windows operating systems
  • Experience in support and configuration of IP networks
  • A self-starter and able to operate under pressure to prioritise and deliver solutions
Desirable Skills & Experience:
  • Good understanding of telephony and mobile networks
           Experience of supporting Weblogic and Oracle
